Lower
Lake
As the name indicates the town is located on the south end of
Clearlake. At the junctions of Hwy #29 and Hwy #53. This quaint little
berg was once the County seat and is rich in history. The local museum
has one of the finest collections of local Indian artifacts and
folklore. The town has been undergoing a major renovation. The downtown
area has
wonderful restaraunts, antique shops, and much more. The main street
turns
into Morgan Valley Road and if you follow it past the Homestake gold
mine
the road will take you all the way to Lake Berriesa. The road is often
one
lane and you have to cross a couple of tiny creeks, but the ride is
beautiful
and scerene. I often ride my motorcycle on this route for the calming
effect.Included in the surrounding area is Jago Bay, and Twin Lakes.
Jago Bay is famous for it's breathtaking views of the lake and Mount
Konocti. Twin Lakes is a sub-division with that country lane feel. Most
of the residents have horses and farm animals of all kinds.
